Aftercare/Reentry >> Starting an Residential Reentry Aftercare for Sexual Offenders |
As we entered this millennium, the buzzword in evangelical prison conferences around our nation was aftercare*.
Upon release, men and women who have been saved while incarcerated, are being spiritually aborted at release centers across America. Though this issue still remains a significant concern, aftercare and reentry has begun to take hold on a grass roots level like never before.
* the latest buzz word is "reentry", and most would agree this process should start upon incarceration

Sex offender reentry has reached a critical juncture. In fact, many are not being released due to a lack of alternative housing meeting state, supervision and public law enforcement restrictions and requirements.
Effective aftercare is so important because it significantly reduces recidivism. That’s a ten dollar word for: new crimes, or better yet and more importantly, new victims. So, if aftercare for sex offenders can help reduce the possibility and probability of new victims of sexual crimes, we need to sit up and pay attention. After five years, our own experience in sex offender aftercare has been a new sexual offense recidivism rate of only 2.5%! There is a strategic difference between general aftercare programs and those dealing specifically with concerns related to sex offenders.
Do you feel called to enter into aftercare/reentry for sex offenders? We strongly suggest that you equip yourself with as much practical knowledge and counsel as possible. We have worked diligently to create a duplicatable working model for sex offender aftercare. We now offer our Administrative Manual packaged with MentorCare Ministries’ “Starting and Operating a Post-Prison Aftercare Facility” along with two hours of phone consultation.
